Here at Luck Dragon Media, we have a lot to be excited about this year! One of those things is the release of one of our first short films, Curtis Curly-Tail, a family-friendly road-trip film highlighting the importance of friendship, bravery, and the role we play in the environment.
Key Points
- Luck Dragon Media is producing its first short film, Curtis Curly-Tail, a 30-minute family-friendly adventure about a brave lizard and his bird friend who must outwit invasive toads and find their way home, highlighting themes of friendship, courage, and environmental awareness.
- Based on a character created by author Elaine A. Powers, the film is currently in production. Exclusive merch was available for backers on IndieGoGo, but we are still looking for people to spread the word!
Our Star: Curtis Curly-Tail
The star of our show is, of course, Curtis, a Little Bahama curly-tailed lizard with big dreams! In his first 30-minute short film, Curtis is determined to seek out the legendary iguanas of the Bahamas, and stows away on a boat with his new friend, Zouzoune, a spirited Bananaquit bird. But their plan goes sideways when they land on the wrong island! Stranded in unfamiliar territory, they soon discover a gang of invasive cane toads with a wild plan to take over the island. With no way home and danger on the horizon, Curtis and Zouzoune must work together, outsmart the villains, and find their way back – learning that courage and friendship are the true keys to adventure.
The Origin Story: Elaine A. Powers
Curtis’s story begins long before his short film, however. In our first episode of Inside the Story, we uncovered his origins as a children’s book star. Created by Elaine A. Powers, a Tucson-local children’s book author and biologist, Curtis is featured in over four original works, some illustrated by our very own lead animator, Brad Peterson! Watch our latest release on YouTube to learn more about their long journey together as author and illustrator.
Behind the Scenes: Featuring YOU!
Curtis’s story is currently in production, but we’d love to get more hands on the project to meet our goal of releasing it later this year. While we are no longer funding this project on IndieGoGo, we appreciate all the support we can get! Every little bit helps us make this project possible, for us, for Elaine, and for Curtis! Spread the word about Curtis’s big adventure before the release later this year!
